Finance and Accounting Intern

Business Entity: Hamilton Medical

Location: Reno, NV

Hamilton Medical, Inc is seeking a Finance and Accounting Intern to work part-time while attending school. This person will work closely with the company's controller and will be involved in general ledger projects and accounts payable work to include:

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist with daily processing of A/P vouchers and preparation of wire payments to vendors.
  2. Review A/P reports (including A/P Aging and Uninvoiced Receipts) with subsequent follow-up on all open items.
  3. Generate various Month-End accounting journal entries.
  4. Assist in maintaining the general ledger and performing subledger reviews to ensure accurate reporting of financial information.
  5. Assist the cost accountant with ad-hoc projects as assigned, including maintain appropriate overhead rates and variance analysis.
  6. Additional reviews and research projects as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):

  1. Hard working individual dedicated to learning and producing accurate and timely results.
  2. Must have excellent Excel skills.
  3. High degree of computer literacy including the ability to design Excel models.
  4. The ability to maintain confidentiality of financial data and results.
  5. The ability to work harmoniously within the Finance Department and with multiple departments within the company.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Must be at least a Sophomore in standing and have taken (or are currently completing) Accounting 201 and 202.
  2. Can be Finance, Economics, or Accounting Majors.
  3. Must be able to work 20 hours during the semester and 30 hours in the summer. Working hours are flexible Monday-Friday between 7:00am 3:30pm to accommodate your school schedule.
  4. Prior work experience is highly desirable.
